Degree in Real Estate development

Hi Colm
Is it important to have a Degree in Real Estate Development/or a Business degree?
The reason I am asking this is because I want to start my company with some sort of a qualification relating to the services I am offering.
I bought your first e-book and I am really interested in developing. I am an IT specialist but have a love for property development.
What should I study specifically on the side simultaneously with your e-books?
Hi Thembani,
Thank you for writing to me and in my reply I am going to first raise two points you make. They are 'my company' and 'services I am offering.'
By setting up a company to offer real estate development services (if I understand you correctly) I would strongly suggest that you don't take this route.
By offering development services to clients you require development experience and by just studying my material or some real estate university course is not enough.
You need to put the learning into practice and build many development or work with a development company so that you live the real life of a development manager.
Remember I am only saying this if you are offering professional development services and not if you are undertaking development in your own right; OK?
You have legal liabilities when offering services and you'll find that you need more than just study and qualifications.
If you are developing for yourself you do not need a Degree and my e-books are more than enough for you as has been proved by my student developing hundreds of millions of dollars of projects around the world over the past eight years.
Hope this helps,
